Industrial Council

The Marlboro County Industrial Council was formed by a group of area business men back in the 1950’s.They met regularly to discuss the economic development of our county. This group in conjunction with Marlboro County government formed the Marlboro County Development Board and shaped what we call today the Marlboro County Economic Development Partnership.

As the county grew, the Industrial Council morphed into what it is today. The Industrial Council is a subsidiary group of the Economic Development Partnership. It is made up of local industry executives and human resource personal. Anyone who falls into these categories are invited to participate on this council.

The goal of the council is to be an avenue to share daily industrial challenges and solutions. They share resources and strengthen relationships through regular luncheon meetings and the annual Spring Event.

Workforce development is a one of the driving forces of this council. Addressing current concerns around employee retention and education are dedicated topics of discussions. Often times the local technical college and government agencies are invited to update the council on new programs and benefits for employers and employees. Other topics of interest to the council are the development of a Work Ready community, job analysis, the Industry Training Center and our wage and benefit survey. The industrial communities’ input on these topics help shape our future.

The current chairman of the Industrial Council is Andy Rogers, of Palmetto Brick. Mr. Rogers also serves as the industrial representative to Marlboro County Economic Development Partnership Board.
